Peck picks up a big offer

South Jordan (Utah) Bingham three-star tight end Remington Peck impressed the BYU coaches last week at its junior day event.
He impressed so much the coaches asked the 6-foot-4, 212-pounder to come back again this week for their padded camp. He returned to Provo on Tuesday and walked away with his first major offer from a Division I school.

"It was pretty sweet how it all happened," Peck, who also impressed earlier this spring at the Palo Alto NIKE Camp, said. "They asked me if I could come to one day of their camp. I got there and the first practice about 9. We went through stretching, and coach Barry Lamb and Robert Anae asked me to come work out with the best players in the camp. I basically got to go one-on-one with all the other big guys. By the time the end of the session was over, I was worn out.
"Coach Medenhall was watching me the whole time. He came over and talked to my dad and said when I come back after the session to come visit him in his office. He said 'we're very excited about you and keep doing well.'"
So after that, Peck made a trip up to the BYU coaches office. That's when he received a letter he'll never forget.
"I went into the office and coach Mendenhall started talking to me about the college and everything," Peck said. "Then he handed me an envelope. Inside of it was a letter that said 'congratulations we're offering you a full scholarship.' It was pretty sweet."
Peck said the offer is pretty tempting and he might not wait long to commit.
"I am tempted to jump on it, just to get the whole thing over with," he said. "But I'm also thinking now that I have that one big offer a couple more might come. Washington told me all I have to do is show up on their campus and I'll get an offer. I'm actually scheduled to go to Stanford and Washington's camp next week, but I don't know if I'll go to Washington now.
"I'm pretty sure I'll still do the Stanford camp. But I think if you give me until mid-next week, I'll likely have a decision."
And that decision definitely looks good now if you're a BYU fan.
