Peart content to bide his time

The age of early commitments hasn't swept up Caleb Peart just yet. So while his peers are making decisions before they take a single official visit, the Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton High School defensive end says he's dedicated to taking his time.
In his mind, there's no rush. In his mind, he has every reason to wait.

"I want to take all my officials because I want check every school out," Peart said. "I want to make sure I am looking at all my options. Really, the only school I've really visited is Arizona State because it's 15 minutes down the road. It's easy to get there for a practice. ASU is definitely a good fit for me. But, at the same time, there's going to be a lot of other schools that might offer."
Washington, Colorado, Nebraska, UCLA and USC have all alerted Peart of their intentions to stop in to see him during the spring evaluation period. But while the three-star prospect currently lists six scholarship offers, his ability to take unofficial visits has been limited. Last weekend was supposed to include a trip to check out Northwestern, but that was cancelled by factors outside of Peart's control.
"Something happened with the flight and the travel, so I got stuck and didn't get to make it there" Peart said. "I haven't rescheduled yet, but I'll probably be out there sometime in May or June.
The only visit dates on Peart's schedule for now are trips to Stanford and California, which are slated for the summer. The last school to offer Peart a scholarship was Utah, which made things official more than a week ago. The Ute program is one with which Peart says he still needs to research.
"I know they're in the Pac 12 and are fairly new to the Pac 12," Peart said of the Utes. "I do know that they have produced a lot of successful defensive linemen that have come out and gone on to the next level. I'm supposed to talk to the defensive lien coach again sometime this week."
As a junior, Peart helped lead Hamilton to an appearance in the Arizona Division-I state championship game.
