Deante Battle is eager to make his first official visit this
coming weekend and has a second stop scheduled.
"I'm going to Colorado this Friday coming up (for
the Buffaloes' game against Iowa State)," he said. "This is my first one, so
I'm real excited about it. I've never been out of the southeast, so going to
that part of the country has me real excited. I'm anxious to see what it
looks like, the atmosphere out there, what the people are like."
Battle, a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team and the No. 21 cornerback in the nation, will
make his second stop on Dec. 6 at Notre Dame.
"That's another one I'm real excited about," he
said. "I can't wait to get up there and see that great tradition. I've been
watching them a lot on TV. They're having a great season."
Battle (5-10, 187, 4.45) said he'll be choosing
between Georgia Tech, Texas, N.C. State and Virginia Tech for his final
three official visits.
"No one really has the edge right now," he said.
"That's what the official visits are going to be for. I should have a pretty
good idea as soon as I get back from all those. Until then, I'd say I like
them all pretty much equal."
Battle has been a jack-of-all-trades at Starr's Mill
this season, leading the team to an 8-2 record and the regional
championship. He's rushed for 800 yards, passed for 400 and scored 14 total
touchdowns while recording 45 tackles and 16 pass break-ups on the defensive
side of the ball.
