“I got an offer from UConn,” he said. “It was my first one, so I was pretty happy about that, even though I don’t know a whole lot about their school yet. I’m hoping this means I’ll start getting a few more.
“I’ve got a lot of calls recently – Auburn, Virginia, South Carolina, Marshall, Wisconsin, Louisville, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Duke, North Carolina, Northwestern, Southern Miss… they all seemed pretty interested in me.”
Lewis (6-0, 175, 4.5) may be seeing his stock rise due to a solid performance at the Auburn Nike combine. He ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash and had a 32-inch vertical jump. He’s coming off a junior season at Jonesboro which saw him record 42 tackles and three interceptions at corner.
Are there any favorites at this point in his recruitment?
“Not really,” he said. “I like all of those I mentioned. They’re the ones showing the most interest. It will depend on who offers scholarships out of those.”
Lewis said he hasn’t finalized his summer camp plans. He hopes to attend “two or three” with his teammate, defensive end Darrell Robertson.
Academically, he maintains a 3.4 GPA and scored an 870 on his first SAT attempt. He’ll take the test again in June or July.
