Peach State ATH likes Tigers, Jackets

Sandersville (Ga.) athlete Stacy Walls is a promising player to keep an eye on as his senior season unfolds at Washington County.
As a junior, he was a jack-of-all-trades, rushing for more than 800 yards, picking off eight passes and returning five punts for touchdowns. He earned first-team Augusta Area honors and second-team All-Middle Georgia honors by the Macon Telegraph.

His versatility and athleticism have already helped draw offers from BYU and East Carolina, and he’s receiving increased attention from Clemson, Florida, Auburn, N.C. State and Georgia Tech this summer.
“I didn’t get to go to any camps, so I think a lot of teams will have to see me play some this year before they do anything,” Walls said. “But I’m getting a lot of good mail. They all seem to like me right now.”
And does Walls have a favorite?
“If Auburn offered, that would be one of my top schools. Definitely,” he said. “I like their tradition and fans and the overall atmosphere they have there. I went to the spring game. It was fun. Plus, it’s kind of close to home. I’d like to stay around here if I can.
“Georgia Tech is another school I like. I’ve always rooted for them. It’s close to home, too, and it’s a good place for football and academics.”
He added: “I’m not really in a hurry or anything, though. I’m keeping my options open, waiting to see who all talks to me during the season.”
He also noted he may make an official visit to BYU this fall.
Walls carries a 3.6 GPA and has scored an 18 on the ACT. He easily projects as a full-qualifier, a bonus for whichever program lands him.
