Payne takes an official visit

Marlton (N.J.) Cherokee wide receiver Lynell Payne took his second official visit over the weekend following a trip last week to Cincinnati. The 6-foot-2, 203-pounder headed north to visit Connecticut.
"It was a nice visit, I saw some things I didn't see on my junior day there," he said. "I got to hang out with someone I knew from down here, Kashif Moore my host. He took me around campus, I went to a party and I got to joke around with a lot of other guys on the team."

A major part of the visit obviously was to take in the game on Saturday against Akron.
"The game was good," he said. "It was real nice and they pulled out the win which was good to see. It was a fun game to be at and their running back is tough. I thought their receivers played well too. As for the atmosphere, it was good. It was a sold out crowd and everyone was into the game."
Before leaving Connecticut on Sunday, Payne met with head coach Randy Edsall.
"I got another little tour, met the athletic advisor and then had a meeting with coach Edsall," he said. "That was good. When I went for the junior day, my dad and I talked to him for two hours. This time we covered everything and he talked about how he loves his players and would love me playing there."
Payne confirmed he is still wide open right now following his first trip.
"It's still open, I have no leaders."
Next up for the two-star prospect is another official this weekend to Clemson.
"I'm going down there this weekend for an official," he said. "I just want to go see the stadium, campus life and all that stuff."
