Payne adds another offer

Cleveland (Ohio) South three-star quarterback Devontae Payne has all the potential in the world. Along with his 6-foot-5, 220-pound frame, he's got some raw physical ability that has drawn plenty of attention from college coaches.
Now he's hoping all that potential draws more scholarship offers.

Payne, the No. 63 player in Ohio, already had an offer from Bowling Green on the table. He said he recently picked up another offer.
"I just got a new offer from Akron," Payne said. "I just recently went to their 7-on-7 camp down there. I have been talking to them for a couple months. They came down and watched practice at my school, and I have been talking to them ever since.
"When I was there for the 7-on-7 drills I took a tour. It was nice. I liked it."
Payne said he's hoping to still hear more from some bigger schools like Ohio State, Penn State and Kentucky. But he's not heard much from either over the past few weeks.
"I really haven't heard anything from them," Payne said. "Penn State said they were considering offering, but I haven't talked to them. I am still very interested in them, though.
"I keep in touch with Ohio State, but I haven't talked with Kentucky since. I haven't called them, they haven't called me or my coach."
Payne said the start of football practices have been good so far. He's noticed plenty of improvement in his game, too.
"My footwork and my accuracy has improved," Payne said. "I think I can read coverages better, and I think all of my game has improved."
