Paulus ready to talk about future

Football or basketball? That’s the question that Greg Paulus has been asked on a regular basis for the last couple of years.
Today, everyone who’s asked that question will get the answer.

The two-sport star at Christian Brothers Academy in upstate New York will reveal his intentions during a 3 p.m. (EST) press conference at his school.
Paulus is rated as one of the top point guards in the nation and as the No. 25 overall prospect by Rivals.com, and in September of 2003, he made a verbal commitment to play basketball for Coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke. He opened his senior season on the hardwood with a 23-point, 12-assist outing in a 79-54 win against East Syracuse-Minoa last Thursday.
But the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is also one of the elite quarterbacks in the country and has drawn comparisons to the likes of Joe Montana. Paulus just finished his senior football campaign at Christian Brothers and led the Brothers to a 13-0 record and a Class AA state championship.
Paulus finished the season with more than 3,500 yards and better than 40 touchdowns through the air and has been named as a finalist for the Gatorade Player of the Year award, given annually to the top prep football player in the country.
“If he were to concentrate on football, I think he’d be the No. 1 quarterback in the country and one of the top 10 players regardless of position,” Rivals.com recruiting expert Bobby Burton said.
The speculation on Paulus’ future has intensified in recent weeks after he did not sign a national letter of intent with the Blue Devils during the NCAA’s early-signing period for basketball, which ended Nov. 17.
“We feel it’s not the appropriate time to address other issues,” said Dave Paulus, Greg’s father, in an interview with Rivals.com last month.
But the family is ready to speak now, and Michael Broome and Joe Parmakian of Rivals.com will be at Christian Brothers Academy for today’s press conference with live updates, exclusive interviews, video footage and photos from today’s event, as well as Greg’s decision on his collegiate sport of choice.
Stay tuned to Rivals.com for all the latest news involving Greg Paulus.
