Patterson talks visit schedule, decision date

Darreyl Patterson declines to put a steadfast timetable on a commitment announcement. Instead, the Lawton (Okla.) High School cornerback will meander through his official visit schedule and pick a school when the mood strikes, likely after his senior season. A trip to Iowa State is already in the rearview, and Patterson's next flight will be a significantly longer one.
"I'm going to Washington State when they play against Washington," Patterson said. "That's pretty much the newest thing. I'm going to get up there and see what Washington State is like."

Patterson claims to have no favorites in the recruiting process at the time being, but he does note that one program is in more frequent contact than the others. In the wake of his completed Iowa State visit, the Cyclones have dialed up the intensity with Patterson, who says a commitment to ISU is very much an option.
"Iowa State is really on me hard since my visit," Patterson said. "I like how they run things there and stuff like that. I got a lot of information on them because the official.
Patterson says he plans to take an official visit to Arizona State sometime in December but has not considered destinations for his two remaining trips. That will come in time. For now, he's still searching for a place that makes him comfortable.
"I'm just looking for a good relationship and stuff like that first," Patterson said. "It's about how I click with my coaches."
As for a decision date, Patterson waivers. Ideally, he would like to take his visits and choose a program after his high school career is in the books. Then again, he'll pull the trigger suddenly if he feels so inclined.
It will be after the seasons probably, but I'm not really sure," he said. "I might do it before, but I want to wait if I can."
