Passing teams interested in Woodlands QB

The Woodlands, Texas, quarterback Greg Meinzer has done well this season considering he’s replacing a Highlander in Rice University pitcher Jordan Dodson, looking over his shoulder at a junior quarterback who is gaining on him, and throwing to a bevy of new receivers.
While Meinzer (6-6, 190-pounds) has taken his lumps against North Shore, Klein and Lufkin, he has still thrown for more than 1,330 yards and 12 touchdowns for a balanced Highlander offense.

“It’s hard to put up a bunch of numbers when you know we are going to give a talented runner like Cameron Montgomery the ball several times a game,” Meinzer said. “I’d like to go out of the shotgun every down and put the ball up, but I know that is not going to happen.”
Meinzer is receiving interest for his quarterbacking credentials and his stature from the likes of Texas Tech, Eastern Michigan, UTEP, Sam Houston and Texas State.
“I’ve been hearing from teams that throw the ball a lot,” he said. “My favorite is Texas Tech and I also like Texas State. Texas Tech picked up two freshman quarterbacks last season, but I really did well at their camp this summer.”
Most of Meinzer’s throws have been caught by Kyle Drabek, son of former Houston Astro pitcher Doug Drabek. Drabek, a junior, has 869 yards this season and 10 touchdowns this season.
