Pass Rusher Waiting For Big Offers

Dwight Stephenson is playing the waiting game – as in the longer he waits the better the scholarship offers that could come his way.
“I’m taking it slowly,” Stephenson, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from Boca Raton (Fla.) Pope John Paul II, said of the recruiting process. “I’m in no hurry to make a decision.”

For Stephenson, the May evaluation period brought scholarship offers from Rutgers, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Florida International and Troy State.
But Stephenson believes that if he waits a little longer, some of his favorite big-time programs, such as Florida and Florida State, could come calling.
“Florida has been showing some interest in me,” said Stephenson. “Because I can play linebacker and defensive end, I’m the perfect kind of player for their defense. That’s the school I’m most excited about.”
The Florida coaching staff will be able to get a closer look at Stephenson when he attends its camp in a few weeks. He’ll also participate in the Miami and Florida Atlantic University camps. Stephenson is also expected to camp at Boston College.
