PAs Glen Mills has two in 2008

Concordville (Pa.) Glen Mills head coach Kevin Owens claims to have two prospects in the 2008 recruiting class. What makes each player stand out according to their coach?
The first is 6-foot-3, 312-pound defensive tackle Maurice Gooden.

"He's a national powerlifter that benches over 400-pounds and squats around 700," he said. "He was a kid that we got here last year and that was his first playing real football. He was a big surprise for us last season.
"As the year went on, he got better and better. He is a very coachable kid that is explosive and knows how to get to the football. He is also a good blocker on the offensive line."
What about Gooden off the field?
"I'll tell you, he's a good student that is on track to graduate," he said. "He comes from a good family."
So far, Temple and Connecticut have been in on Gooden up to this point.
On the opposite side of the ball is 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back Ramone West.
"He's a great, tremendous player that is very elusive," he said. "He's the type of player you don't see very often and kind of reminds me of a young Barry Sanders. He actually missed three games and still ran for 1,900 yards in just seven games.
"Off the field, he's very coachable and works hard every day. He's a pleasure to be around and a really good student too."
Owens claims plenty of colleges have taken notice of West up to this point.
"He's getting interest from every school in the country on the East Coast and in the Midwest," he said. "Connecticut, Temple, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Penn State, Pittsburgh and quite a few others, although nobody has offered at this time."
