Parkinson sees SEC interest

Colby Parkinson had an excellent game this past weekend at the Honor Bowl.
The 2017 four-star tight end from Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian caught a short pass, turned and outran the defense for a 76-yard touchdown. Later, the 6-foot-5 recruit went down the sidelines for 59 yards.

Oaks Christian was cruising early but had to stave off a late rally by San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic to hold onto the 35-33 win. Parkinson certainly did his part.
"We came out really strong," Parkinson said. "There were some minor errors that coach (Jim) Benkert was talking about at halftime but we played really well in the first half.
"We came out flat in the second half. Coach Benkert was talking at halftime that they're the defending state champs. They're not going to go away. They're not going to hide. We pulled it out and got the win."
As for his recruitment, Parkinson has already landed offers from Cal, Tennessee, Washington and Washington State.
The 2017 recruit is also getting some preliminary SEC interest.
"I've been talking to Arkansas a little bit," Parkinson said. "I got some messages on Twitter but it's nothing really serious so far."
Focused mainly on his junior season, Parkinson could take some local trips but he doesn't anticipate any out-of-state visits in the coming months. It's still early for him so he's not rushing a list of favorites or anything like that at this point.
"I'll probably go down to USC and UCLA games, something local but that's probably it," Parkinson said.
"I'm still taking my time. I'm just focused on the season and not worrying about college right now."
