Parker lands opening offer

Jordan Parker noticed UCLA assistant coach Angus McClure on the sidelines at his last game and that proved to be important this week.
The 2016 cornerback from Pittsburg, Calif., landed his first offer from the Bruins on Tuesday and it's definitely a major one for Parker, who said he likes a lot about the UCLA program on and off the field.

"It was really big for me," Parker said. "It's a great opportunity.
"It's a great academic school, it's one of the top schools, and the football program is an excellent plus to it. It kind of came out of the blue. I did see coach McClure at our last game and then (Tuesday) it happened."
UCLA is the opening offer for Parker, who looked good at the Rivals Camp Series Northern California and has outstanding junior film, and many other programs are showing interest in him throughout his junior season.
The Pittsburg standout said Washington State, Nevada, Oregon, Cal and San Diego State are showing the most interest at this point.
What could also be important as Parker's recruitment moves forward is his relationship with four-star Pittsburg teammate Shurod Thompson, who also has an offer from the Bruins along with many other teams.
The two are close - very close - and have always wanted to play college football together.
"We grew up together since kindergarten so that's like my brother," Parker said. "I consider him blood. That's a huge factor. That's our dream."
So far this season, Parker has three interceptions. At wide receiver, the 2016 prospect has totaled 212 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
