Parker another name from St. Augustine

San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine is lead by one of the nation's top quarterbacks in Chris Forcier, but the team is much more than a one-man show. Cornerback Larry Parker is also a name recruiting fans should get to know.
That's because the 5-foot-10, 160-pound cornerback and receiver had a very solid junior season, racking up 42 tackles, three interceptions, 230 yards receiving and scoring two touchdowns. He hopes to improve his stock even more at the NIKE Training Camp at Stanford.

"I can find the ball fast when it's in the air," Parker said. "I can tackle pretty well in open field, and on offense I'm a great blocker. I can hold up defenders long enough so the running back can get behind me and I can get him down the field."
"I probably need to work on opening my hips and communicating with my teammates a little better."
Parker likes to compare his game to two of the best players ever.
"I play a lot of defense, but I style myself after Reggie Bush and the way he plays offense," he said. "His agility and his speed along with the way he plays and makes such sharp cuts. He is a good example for a player on offense or defense. I watch some tapes of Deon Sanders, too. Those are the two I really look up to right now."
There has been plenty of communication between Parker and the colleges recruiting him.
"I've been hearing from Nebraska, Oregon, Georgia Tech, San Diego State and a few schools like that," Parker said. "I like UCLA, but I haven't heard anything from them. I think Nebraska is going to offer soon. They've been talking to my coaches about me, and they're saying they like me and my size quite a bit."
Parker said he hopes to pick a school that will be the right fit.
"I will look at if I get to play and whether it's a good school," he said. "I want to make sure the coaches aren't going to be moving any time soon, and I don't care about how far away it is, really, but it may play a factor."
Parker's biggest influence in his life is his grandmother.
"My grandma is a big part of my life," he said. "If anything goes wrong I know I can go to her and she'll be right there for me. Whether it is money problems or personal problems she's always right there."
Parker is also a member of the St. Augustine basketball program. His team is 25-2 on the season. He plays a role as the team's sixth man.
"I'm pretty much the sixth man so I get in to spark up the team when they need something," he said.
