Panhandle back getting serious looks

Cottondale (Fla.) running back/safety Marquenten Webb is one of many prospects on the Florida Panhandle receiving early attention from a number of programs throughout the Southeast.
The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder hasn't received any scholarship offers yet, but is getting written correspondence from a number of schools.

"I got a lot of letters," Webb said. "LSU, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Oklahoma and UCF. Those are the top schools I am looking at."
Webb is heading up to Auburn to watch the Tigers A-Day spring football game on March 18.
Webb grew up a Florida fan and favors the Gators, along with another in-state school, early on.
"My very first letter was from Florida," Webb said. "Also, all the rest of the schools send mail to my school, but Florida sends mail to my house. I would love to go to Florida because I've always been a Gators fan. There or Florida State.
"Florida State would be cool because Tallahassee is only 40 minutes from my house."
Webb, who projects as a running back or strong safety at the next level, rushed for 487 yards and had 113 receiving yards his junior season. He tallied 115 tackles (75 solo) on defense.
"Right now, I believe that I fit in better at running back," he said. "But my coaches are saying that if it doesn't work out, that I've got a good body to play strong safety. I also used to play some quarterback, so I can read what the quarterback is doing when I play safety."
