Palmetto State CB ready to commit

Cornerback Jon Hefney was scheduled to take a visit to Tennessee over the weekend but had a change of plans. Despite that, the Vols appear to be in great shape with him.
"I'm going to be taking a trip to Knoxville next weekend," said Hefney, a 5-foot-10, 172-pound corner from Rock Hill, S.C. "I was supposed to be up there over the weekend but it's just a better fit next weekend."

Hefney is also interested in South Carolina and remains in contact with coaches. With the Gamecocks seemingly in search of another cornerback, Hefney would be a good fit. But are they in a good position with him?
"South Carolina has been pretty high on my list all along. I can't rule them out because they really seem to be interested in me and it's a good program. But right now I think they're number three on my list, behind Tennessee and Florida State. That doesn't mean they're out, just that they're behind."
So do the Vols or 'Noles lead for Hefney, who is not only a cover corner but also a nightmare for opposing coaches on kick returns?
"Tennessee is my top school," said Hefney. "They always have great defensive backs and to play at a place like that would be big time. FSU is still FSU and you definitely can't ignore them. They're number two but they're still up there.
"There's a pretty good chance that I could commit to Tennessee over the weekend if everything goes like I think it can. It's a good college town and the stadium is incredible, so I'm expecting to be amazed," he laughed. "I wouldn't tell other teams to stop recruiting me or anything, but UT has a good chance with me this weekend."
