Palmetto sleeper heads to SEC

Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes wide receiver Matt Quinn has given a verbal commitment to and SEC school, according to a source familiar with his recruitment.
Quinn will play wide receiver and long snapper for Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder is the Commodores' 13th commitment for the class of 2006 and fourth from the state of South Carolina, joining D.J. Moore and Teriall Brannon of Spartanburg Broome and Steven Goulet of Irmo.
Vandy passing game coach Jimmy Kiser is Quinn's recruiter of record. Quinn is responsible for all four Palmetto State prospects.
Quinn and his high school team will face Columbia Richland Northeast for the Class 4A championship Friday night in Columbia. The Rebels are chasing their fourth straight state title. He also will participate in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, which annually pits the top high school football talent from North Carolina against the top high school talent from South Carolina, on Dec. 17 in Spartanburg, S.C.
