Palm Desert Duo stock is rising

Garrett Tremblay isn’t the only reason that division one recruiters will show up to Palm Desert, Calif., high school this fall. Coach Pat Blackburn has two other prospects that are getting recruiting attention.
One of them is quarterback transfer Joe Johnson (5-8, 180, 4.5). Johnson played for Palm Springs, Calif., high school as a junior and picked up some pretty impressive numbers.

Johnson ran for over 1,000 and passed for over 1,000 as a junior. This talented signal caller also had 20 rushing touchdowns to his credit and passed for approximately 10 touchdowns.
Johnson attended the Nike camp held at USC and ran a 4.6 forty. Not a bad time that day because the field was slick and athletes were losing their footing in drills all day.
Johnson is a versatile athlete and brings a lot to the table. He could end up playing a variety of positions on the next level. While quarterback isn’t totally out of the question, Johnson will more than likely end up lining up at running back, wide receiver or defensive back.
This talented athlete has heard from the likes of USC, Oregon, UCLA, LSU, Fresno State, Washington State, UNLV, Cal, Michigan State and LSU.
According Mike Matya of Inside Ducks Sports, Johnson could have offers pending from Colorado State, Fresno State, Oregon and Michigan State.
The other player from Palm Desert who is getting looks is offensive lineman Micah Gaeta (6-6, 265, 5.1).
Gaeta is somewhat of a sleeper who passes the look test. He definitely has division one size. He has outstanding lower body strength with a 500 pound squat. Not a bad bench either as he benches 295.
“Micah dominates his competition,” Palm Desert head coach Pat Blackburn said. “His best football is ahead of him.”
Keep an eye on Gaeta with a strong senior season, he could go to the head of the class...
