Palm Beach DT has major offers

West Palm Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Lakes defensive tackle Jeremy Lewis has emerged with multiple scholarship offers, including one from a major local power and a couple from Southeastern Conference programs.
"I have offers from LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Miami (Fla.), Florida International and Auburn," Lewis said.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pounder is in the beginning stages of learning about each program that has offered him, but one school currently stands out above the others.
"Miami (stands out)," he said. "They have a new coaching staff. Last year was pretty much a rebuilding year for them. Plus, it's a Florida team. That's not saying I am definitely going to play for a Florida team, but that's where I am from."
Clint Hurtt is recruiting Lewis for the Canes.
LSU also is a school that is in the mix. D.J. McCarthy recruits Palm Beach County, Fla., for the Tigers.
"That's a good program, too."
There are several things that will be important to Lewis when picking a college.
"The way they run their program (will be important)," he said. "My decision also is going to be based on playing time, like if they played a ton of freshman the year before. I mean, anywhere I go I am going to have to compete and I know that. I just want to go to a school that fits me."
Lewis had more than 50 tackles (15 for loss), eight sacks and returned a fumble 29 yards for a touchdown during the 2006 season.
