The Class of 2018 has been on the clock for less than a week, but already two of the top prospects in the class have thrown the recruiting world a major curveball. After visiting Kansas on Saturday, Rivals100 New Orleans (La.) Landry-Walker teammates Devonta Jason and Corione Harris committed to Jayhawks. Later in the evening, Metairie (La.) Rummel four-star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase also committed to the Jayhawks.

Jason and Harris were both once committed to LSU and each have an offer list that includes schools from the SEC, ACC and Big 12. Jason recently visited Auburn and has been pursued by programs like Florida State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M in recent weeks. Harris was recently offered by the Sooners and added an offer from TCU on Saturday. Chase had an offer list that included Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss and several other programs.

While the move might seem out of left field, Jason and Harris are close with former teammate Mike Lee. During his freshman year with Kansas in 2016, Lee starred for the Jayhawks in 2016 and earned freshman All-American honors. Chase is also 7-on-7 teammates with Jason and Harris.

The commitments were part of a five-commit day for the Jayhawks, as three-star running back Anthony Williams and 2018 quarterback Clayton Tune also committed.
