Painter looking to narrow list

It's no secret Rivals100 offensive tackle Vinston Painter is favoring Virginia Tech and Florida. With two schools already sticking out, the 6-foot-6, 317-pounder out of Norfolk (Va.) Maury is working on figuring out the rest of his leaders this summer.
"Virginia Tech and Florida are still my top two, but I'm thinking about trying to cut my list to a top five or 10 this summer," he said. "I probably want to get it down sometime in June or July, but I don't know who else will be in there."

Of course, the Hokies and Gators are on top. What continues to make them standout for the Hampton Roads stud?
"Florida is the overall program, the football, academics and environment at the school are great," he stated. "I met the whole staff when I was down there and I had a good time talking to those guys.
"Virginia Tech is the same things, plus it is in-state and they have a couple of my teammates there. Being local is a plus for me."
In the past couple weeks, Painter hasn't heard much from Florida, but still is in touch with the Hokies.
"Coach Newsome and Stinespring stay in touch and I'm mainly talking to them," he said. "It's mostly basic conversations getting to know each other more. Florida hasn't talked much since they already visited earlier in May."
Currently Painter has plans to potentially visit just one of his two leaders this summer.
"I may go up to Virginia Tech's camp on June 9th," he said. "I'm also looking at going to the Michael Vick camp at Christopher Newport in June where I can learn from NFL players."
