Pack leads for SC athlete

Athlete Davon Heath is one of the most versatile players in the Palmetto State and has drawn the interest of several schools in the ACC and SEC. He's got one clear favorite, but some other schools remain high on his list.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound athlete from Lancaster, S.C. runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds will most likely play cornerback or safety in college, where he made a name for himself as one of the state's top defensive players last year. Who are his leaders?

"NC State is my favorite school," he said. "They're on the rise, and they play an aggressive style of football. They're very enthusiastic and energetic on the field and in practice. I just love the direction their program is going in. They've got some great new facilities and it's a very good school. I really like the attention I'm getting from them. NC State is definitely recruiting me harder than anyone else."
So while the Pack is his clear leader, who else is he considering?
"I grew up in love with the 'Noles, so Florida State is high on my list. UNC has been showing a lot of interest, and that's a great academic school. I like Dexter Reid also. Georgia is starting to show interest and they're one of the nation's elite programs. I like Tim Jennings, a fellow Palmetto prospect. Tennessee's recruiting coach has been great, and he came to my school. Those schools are all on my list."
What will be the biggest factors in Heath's decision?
"I'm looking for a good football program, great academics, and the opportunity to be taught how to become a great player. I understand you need to have God-given ability, and I do, but at the same time I believe the right coaching can work wonders. So I want to play for an enthusiastic, teacher-type coach."
Heath visited Clemson and Florida State over the summer and enjoyed both trips.
"I've got favorites, but my real goal is to play in the ACC or the SEC. Those are two of the best conferences in the country, and I just want a chance to play in one of them."
