MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Purvis (Miss.) four-star receiver Markell Pack arrived in Montgomery on Monday for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, and is excited to represent the state of Mississippi.
"It's a pleasure to be here to get invited to come play with the talent in Mississippi against the talent of Alabama," Pack said. "It's a special, special thing for me to experience."
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver committed to Ole Miss in November, and there were a few things which stood out about the Rebel program.
"Just how they took me in and how family oriented they are," Pack said.
Before making his pledge to the Rebels, he did have a tough call to make. Pack committed to Florida State in July, and the Seminoles definitely made him feel welcome. However, once he felt the pull of Ole Miss, he knew he had to stay home.
"It was pretty hard but I have to make the best decision for me and put myself in the best situation," Pack said.
His Ole Miss commitment has not stopped other schools from trying to get him on their campus. Arkansas and LSU have both kept in touch, and at this time he has not made up his mind whether or not he will take any other official visits.
One thing he does know for sure is he feels strong about his commitment to the Rebels.
"I'm pretty solid," Pack said. "I fit right in with the offense."
He also has a plan for Saturday's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
"It's just going to be a show," Pack said.
