Pac12 comes calling for Martin

It may be early, but the recruiting process has already kicked into high gear for Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial 2016 running back Kameron Martin.
The 5-foot-9, 164-pound standout has been a playmaker on the varsity level the past two seasons, and already holds offers Baylor, Texas Tech, and Akron. Friday afternoon he learned the Pac-12 was joining the mix when he called the Utah Utes' safety coach and recruiting coordinator Morgan Scalley.

"Just like 50 seconds ago when I called the coach to see how he was doing," Martin said about receiving the offer. "We had been talking since last week and he told me he was going to recruit the heck out of me. He was just saying we're going to have to build this relationship, so today when I got on the phone with him he asked me some questions about my family. Like how many kids are in my family and stuff like that. Then he was like well, you have a Utah offer. I just wanted to let you know I'm going to recruit the heck out of you and we're going to get this going. I'll call (Port Arthur Memorial) coach (Kenny) Harrison in the future to let him know."
With an offer Utah was quick to catch Martin's attention.
"I'm not going to say it puts them in my mix, but I'd love to visit and be interested in Utah," Martin said. "They're a pretty good school and we'll see down the road with my recruitment where this Utah offer goes."
The Utes are not the only Pac-12 program to pick up interest in Martin's abilities.
"Yesterday I talked to Washington State and I think they're about to offer me too," Martin said. "So I'll have two Pac-12 offers and two Big 12 offers and one MAC offer from Akron."
After rushing for over 1,000 yards as a sophomore and attracting interest from the likes of Texas A&M, Notre Dame, USC, at Texas, Martin is waiting to hear back from a few more programs at this time.
"I'm waiting on a few more offers," Martin said. :I want an A&M offer, an Alabama offer, and an Oregon offer. I talked to Alabama a few weeks ago, coach Burns, and he said he's going to recruit the heck out of me and we're going to get this going."
For now though, Martin is focused and ready for the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio.
