FONTANA, Calif. - Oregon could be the team to beat for four-star athlete Braedin Huffman-Dixon.

The Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei prospect downplayed that statement somewhat Sunday at the Passing Down Inland Empire Elite 7on7 Regional but there’s no question the Ducks are high on his list.

“It’s not the school but there’s a lot of talk,” Huffman-Dixon said.

“It’s always been a dream school growing up and I love the staff. Now that coach Donte (Williams) is there, it adds a little more and I like coach (Keith) Heyward and coach (Michael) Johnson a lot.”

Huffman-Dixon is also thrilled coach Mario Cristobal landed the Oregon job after Willie Taggart left town after one season.

“I was hoping he got it a lot,” Huffman-Dixon said. “I haven’t met him but I’ve heard really good things about him.”

Williams, a first-year assistant with the Ducks after coaching at Nebraska, has also developed a strong relationship with Huffman-Dixon which only helps Oregon’s cause as well.

“He was helping the recruitment with Nebraska so I’ve known him for some time now,” Huffman-Dixon said. “It adds a lot to it.”

Georgia, Colorado, USC and Nebraska are others who are heavily pursuing the four-star prospect. This summer Huffman-Dixon is planning a return trip to Georgia and then he’s going to work out at camps at Clemson and Cal among others.
