Pac 12 offer arrives for 2016 running back

MORE: Pac 12 comes calling for Martin
Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial 2016 running back Kameron Martin continues to grab the early offers. He picked up his first scholarship offer from Akron, and Baylor and Texas Tech have also jumped on board, while Utah was the first Pac-12 program to offer. On Monday, the Colorado Buffaloes decided they liked what they saw too.
"Well, I've just been building a relationship with coach Walters," Martin said. "He added me as a friend on Twitter and so I sent my film to him and so he sent me his number. I just called him one day and he said they've been looking at me since my freshman year and they just wanted to keep in contact with me. Today I called him again and he was in the call with the head coach and the head coach got on the phone and told me they offered me a full ride scholarship and are going to recruit the heck out of me."
Martin and Walters have been talking quite a bit over the course of the recruiting process, and Martin likes what he has heard from the Colorado assistant coach.
"He told me a lot of stuff about him," Martin said. "How he played in the NFL and stuff and he just told me Colorado is a great school. They're all about academics first and athletics second. He told me they really saw a lot in me at a young age. They haven't offered any 2016 athletes yet and have barely offered some 2015s. The coach was like that's a great deal to get an offer from us. He said to keep working hard and we're going to be by there on Wednesday and he's going to watch me run track."
Martin recently had coaches from Texas A&M and Texas stop by Port Arthur Memorial. Oklahoma State and Washington State continue to show significant interest and several others are showing attention. Martin plans to visit Texas A&M for the February 23 junior day, and also plans to stop by Texas and Baylor in the near future.
In the past, Martin has listed Texas A&M at the top of his list, but at this point he is taking a step back when it comes to leaders and favorites.
"Well, I've backed off with the favorites and all of that," Martin said. "I really don't have any more favorites, but I really like A&M and UT and all the schools. I'm just collecting the offers and keeping in contact with all the coaches who have offered me and keep building relationships with coaches."
Martin plans to attend the Rivals Camp Series in Houston on March 9.
