Pac-10 program eyes Atlanta ATH

Roswell (Ga.) athlete Garrett Embry currently holds two scholarship offers, from Baylor and Central Florida, and is getting serious looks from a number of other programs, including one from the West Coast.
"As far as schools that are Close to offering, I think Alabama is close," Embry said. "Cal might be close. I am going out there in May to check them out. A lot of schools say they are coming by during spring and that we'll take it from there."

Would a scholarship offer from the Golden Bears put Cal in the mix for the Atlanta-area prospect?
"I am definitely open," he said. "I will go anywhere. I've been out to California and I like it there."
Recently, the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder made the trip to Waco, Texas, to check out Baylor.
"It was a great trip," Embry said. "It was a real family-oriented atmosphere. You went out and sat down with all of the coaches and they had their families there, so that went good. Coach said I will probably play early and that was good."
Embry is going to be working on several aspects of his game between now and next season.
"I am going to be working on speed," he said. "Speed turns at safety and coming out of my cuts in route running at receiver."
Recently, he performed well at the Athens NIKE Camp April 21 on the campus of the University of Georgia.
"It went good," he said. "I think I did real well on the drills, one-on-ones and things like that."
Embry is a good athlete who could project as a safety, wide receiver or grow into an outside linebacker at the college level. Baylor is recruiting him as a receiver. He averaged 20 yards per reception as a junior.
