PA safety is looking for more offers

Springfield (Pa.) Springfield safety John Dempsey holds five offers right now. The 6-foot-0, 196-pounder believes more scholarships will be coming in the near future from a variety of schools.
"I've got offers from West Virginia, Temple, Vanderbilt, Villanova and Northeastern," he said. "Right now I think Syracuse, Rutgers and Michigan State are the next schools to possibly offer as they are showing a high amount of interest in me and want me to see them in person."

The two-star prospect currently has a couple schools standing out for his services.
"If I decide to go the I-AA route then I'd say Villanova is leading, otherwise I'm favoring West Virginia and they are probably my outright favorite," he said. "I'm scoping out the situation at Villanova with playing time and education is a huge factor for me. I do like their coaching staff a lot and defensive scheme. They run the 3-3-5 and I would have a chance to start as a freshman.
"As for West Virginia, nothing is better than them right now because they are a top five team in the country and I feel I fit in best there. I really like their style of defense since they rotate a lot of guys. The coaching staff is full of great guys including my recruiter Bill Kirelawich. I feel like they provide everything I need there."
At the moment, the safety prospect has no decision planned.
"That is way too far down the line to consider it."
Dempsey is looking forward to the upcoming football season.
"Practice for us is starting on August 14th and I can say I'm a lot more improved from last year," he said. "My strength is a lot better and I'm bigger too up to around 205-pounds."
Dempsey ran for 950 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. He added two interceptions on defense on his way to first team all-Catholic and second team all-Delco honors as a junior.
