Pa. lineman plans summer visits

Erie (Pa.) McDowell offensive lineman Dan Matha is drawing plenty of interest from recruiters, and a few scholarship offers as well.
"I'd say West Virginia, Virginia, Michigan, Georgia, and Notre Dame are my top ones," Matha said. "And you can put Penn State on there. That would be my top five or six. And Iowa too."

One of the schools Matha mentioned has offered a scholarship thus far, as have a few others.
"West Virginia, Pitt, Temple, and Maryland have offered me," Matha said.
Matha has visited several schools and has a number of other trips in mind.
"I visited Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, and West Virginia," Matha said. "Those are the four schools I've seen.
"After the school year ends I'm going down to see Virginia and up to Michigan, and maybe Michigan State. And I'll definitely go see Iowa."
There has been no shortage of recruiters visiting Matha's school or calling him.
"A bunch of recruiters have been here," he said. "Georgia, Michigan State, Virginia, and Pitt came out last week. West Virginia, Temple, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, and Michigan have called."
The 6-foot-7 and 310-pound Matha was very impressive at the NIKE Football Training Camp at Penn State on Saturday. He was humble afterward when asked about his performance.
"It went pretty good," he said. "I liked the one-on-one pass blocking drill. It was good competing against someone else."
