Junior To Watch: Anthony Morelli
School: Pittsburgh (Pa.) Penn Hills
Size and speed: Morelli is 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.
Honors: Morelli was named first team all conference in a 4-A league.
Statistics: As a junior Morelli completed 78 of 148 passes for 1,880 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Favorite schools: Pitt, Penn State, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, UCLA
Skinny: Morelli is one of the top players in Pennsylvania and an elite signal caller that has already received very impressive early offers.
"I've gotten offers from Pitt, Penn State, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, West Virginia and Purdue so far," said Morelli. "I wouldn't say that I have a leader right now but I definitely grew up watching Pitt and Penn State because of their location. I've been to Penn State and checked it out. I saw the practice facilities and sometimes we go over there when I play basketball."
Morelli is obviously a highly recruited player. How would he describe his game?
"A lot of people that I hear compare me to a Dan Marino-type quarterback. I'm pretty much a pro-style quarterback. My arm is really strong and I have a really quick release. When I feel pressure I can move around well and pick up rushing yardage. I have some good receivers coming back this year so my numbers will look good."
Does he plan on camping anywhere over the summer?
"Right now nothing is set," he said. "But I would like to get out to the Pitt camp and the Nike camp that is at Penn State. If I get invited to the Elite 11 camp for quarterbacks then I'll definitely try to make it out there."
