PA end makes a surprise decision

Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway defensive end B.J. Stevens made a slightly surprising decision earlier today. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder selected Miami (Ohio) over offers from North Carolina State and Delaware.
"I committed at around three o'clock to Coach Montgomery," he said. "He was really excited. He said, finally I have the two Stevens' boys. My brother is up there too and he just kept saying how excited he was and how he can't wait to get me up there."

Stevens brother, Jordan, also a defensive end was one of a few factors in his choice.
"That was big along with the fact of when I went up for the spring game, I saw the locker room and the coaches surrounded me," he said. "They made me feel part of the team and that sparked everything.
"I really like Coach Cooper and Coach Lindsey. I know without them none of this was possible. They recruited me more than any other school and had everything I could ask for."
What about his brother?
"I actually didn't tell him until today," he said. "I wanted it to be a surprise and he was really excited and happy for me. I'm really excited we get to play with each other.
"He was a senior when I was a freshman and I had mono and missed six weeks, so we didn't get to play together. This is good for us."
Stevens will get a chance to earn playing time as soon as he arrives on campus.
"I talked to Coach Lindsey about it," he said. "He sees me coming in and making a big impact."
