PA corner approaches 20 offers

Offers are growing for Pennsburg (Pa.) Perkiomen School cornerback Abdul Smith. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder added two more offers recently to push his total to 19.
"Right now I'm actually up to 19," he said. "The coaches from Boston College and Virginia told me they were putting offers in the mail on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.

"Boston College jumps out because it's a great academic school. They have the second best graduation rate in the country. They are five hours away so the distance is pretty close and they had two players picked in the first round. I plan to visit there sometime this summer.
"Virginia is an up and coming program. They had a good season last year, they play in the ACC and won a lot of close games. I'm trying to learn a lot more about them. My mom goes to North Carolina every summer and I'm going to try to visit UVA on my trip down."
Smith maintains there are no true leaders at this time, although he will start to show favorites later this summer.
"I don't have any favorites now. I'm open to anybody," he said. "I do want to cut down my list this summer to at least seven schools and then throughout the season I'll get it to five and take my official visits."
How will Smith decide which schools make the cut?
"I'm going to look at the schools that want me the hardest and recruit me," he said. "Of course I have to be interested in them and then I've got to see how I get along with the coaches. Finally, I've got to see if I like it outside of football."
