Owls pick up Metroplex safety

With his senior season in the books, Arlington (Texas) Bowie safety Chris Jones decided to make a college decision several weeks ago.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder, who held offers from both Rice and Baylor, decided that one of those schools fit his athletic and academic needs perfectly. He didn't hesitate and now says he's got recruiting all wrapped up.

"I committed to Rice a while ago," Jones said. "It was really about the same thing that I've liked them for all along. It's really about the academics they have there and that made a big difference to me."
Jones says he's not planning to take any other visits and his commitment to the Owls isn't one that he's wavering on.
"No, I'm all done," Jones said. "I'm not going to take any visits or anything."
Jones was being recruited by Rice coach Danny Phillips.
