Owens holding steady with three offers

Westville (N.J.) West Deptford 2014 linebacker Gerald Owens is sitting on three scholarship offers. The 6-foot-2, 248-pounder hasn't taken any visits this summer, but discussed the latest with his recruitment.
"I haven't visited anywhere at all this summer," he said. "Right now, I've been busy maxing out and getting ready for the season. Our first official practice is on Saturday. I probably won't visit anywhere soon because of football starting."

At this time, Owens holds offers from Boston College, Rutgers and Wisconsin.
In addition, he's hearing quite a bit from Ohio State.
"I have gotten a lot of interest from Ohio State," he stated. "I talked to them recently and they have a lot of interest. They're saying they are going to see how my grades are and come see a couple of my games this year."
Owens wants to get out on visits this fall, but has nothing set up at this time.
Meanwhile, the linebacker is hoping to hear from one school soon.
"The school I grew up liking the most was Texas," he said. "I don't know what it was about them. I just like the country and I've liked the school since I was little. It might be because of Vince Young. I'm
a Vince Young fan."
With visits potentially coming this fall, what is Owens looking for?
"First off I'm looking at education," he said. "Football doesn't last forever and God forbid I get hurt, I have to have something to fall back on. I'm looking at studying business. I'm looking at the location too. I'm looking at somewhere I'll feel comfortable away from my family and somewhere I know I'll be safe. My parents think location is a big deal, but I don't think it is so much for me."
