Overshown headed to Big 12

Mesquite (Texas) Horn defensive end Gary Overshown made a strong impression on the TCU Horned Frogs when he camped in Fort Worth in early June.
As a matter of fact, he received his scholarship offer from Gary Patterson and his staff after leaving camp that day.

It turns out TCU made just as strong of an impression on the 6-foot-5, 220-pound defensive end, and on Monday he decided it was time to give his commitment to the Horned Frogs.
"After I did a little research and I found out it would be a good fit for me, it's close to home, and everything seems on the up and up about them I decided to commit," Overshown said.
"First I talked to coach Burns. We called coach Burns and told him and coach Burns was proud. Then I talked to coach Patterson and he said he was glad I joined the family."
Overshown may have waited a little bit to make his decision, but he quickly knew he would be a Horned Frog.
"When they offered me," Overshown said.
Between that time and now, there have been a few things that moved him to go ahead and make his college decision.
"The love they showed me and me having a chance to play when I get up there," Overshown said.
What's next for Overshown?
"I'm going to try and get my parents up there," Overshown said.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound defensive end is the 14th commitment of TCU's 2016 recruiting class and the second defensive lineman. He chose the Horned Frogs over offers from Colorado State, Iowa, Minnesota, Texas State, ULL, Nevada, North Texas, and Tulsa.
As a junior, Overshown recorded 45 tackles and eight sacks on his way to first-team all-district honors.
