The drastically different fortunes of LSU and Texas A&M this season have one of their mutual prime prospects evaluating his future with both schools.

Four-star West Monroe (La.) linebacker Luke Sanders has named the Aggies and Tigers his co-leaders all season, but LSU is closing in on a possible BCS berth at 9-1 while A&M heads into its final game of the season against Texas at 4-7.
“It’s definitely something I’m watching pretty close,” he said. “You always want to see the school you’re thinking about going to do well, and LSU is playing great. That says a lot to me right now. I’m really impressed with them.
“I’m still looking at A&M, but they’ve had some trouble. You’ve got to think about stuff like that.”
Also giving Sanders (6-4, 228, 4.6) something to think about is newfound interest from Oklahoma and Southern Cal.
“Oklahoma has called a lot lately,” he said. “I talked to their linebacker coach and the recruiting coach twice in the last two weeks. With the type of season they’re having and their overall reputation, I’m definitely interested. The linebackers coach wants me to come in for an official visit, but they haven’t offered yet.
“Southern Cal is doing the same thing. I’ve heard from them about every week for the last two or three weeks. That’s such a great school and another program with a lot of tradition. I’d love to go out there and take a look at things.”
He has yet to schedule his official visits, but says LSU, A&M, Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Ole Miss and Tennessee are the main candidates.
On the field, Sanders has helped lead West Monroe to a 10-1 record and the second round of the Class 5A playoffs. He bounced back with 89 tackles, four interceptions (two returned for TDs) and two sacks coming off a junior season which saw him undergo ACL surgery. He’s been involved in 11 “big plays,” including the four picks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries and blocked kicks.
Academically, he carries a 4.0 GPA and has a 27 on the ACT.
