OU, NU latest to offer DE

The scholarship offers continue to roll in for Galena Park, Texas defensive end Trumaine Johnson.
“He continues to keep getting more and more offers,” Galena Park coach Mike Coker said. “Nebraska called recently and so did Oklahoma. They have both offered too. That gives him like 18 or 19 schools that have offered.”

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound Johnson appears to be narrowing his focus a little bit.
“I’d say his top five schools are Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and LSU,” Coker said. “He hasn’t cut any others out yet. I think he’s looking at those five a little harder than some of the others. They’ve been recruiting him hard.”
The traffic of coaches by Galena Park has been pretty heavy.
“We’ve had a lot of schools by here to check things out. It has been a busy place. Everyone has been impressed with what they’ve seen.”
Johnson plans to attend two summer camps for sure.
“Last I heard he was going to go to Texas and LSU’s camps. I suppose he might look at some others, but I know those two are on his list.”
Coker doesn’t expect an early decision from his standout defensive end.
“He will most likely take his official visits this fall before making any kind of a decision. So, I don’t look for anything to happen soon on Trumaine’s front.”
