"From the start, as soon as coach Riley got on the staff right after Signing Day, they were reaching out to my coach," said the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Kendall. "I really wanted to make it out there as soon as possible because coach Stoops offers everyone in person. They made a real point to have me out there as soon as possible and when I did that they made an offer right away. As soon as I got there it honestly felt like home. It's a great situation with the quarterbacks, it's a great offensive and a great coaching staff. They're winners."
The Sooners' offense is one that the Oklahoma coaching staff thinks Kendall will excel in and Kendall can also provide a boost in recruiting.
"They see me fitting into it as well as I do with my high school offense," he said. "It's a spread offense and they're going to throw the ball around. They'll hand the ball off a lot and they'll do a little read-option. It's basically what my high school offense does. They want me to throw the ball around a lot like an air-raid and I'm looking forward to it.
"I can help the class in recruiting," Kendall said. "Right now it's going to make a big jump and they're going to send me a list of guys they want and I'm going to go after them just like they are. Hopefully we can get everybody they want and we can build this class up. "
Kendall had committed to Tennessee early in the recruiting cycle but decommitted about a month ago. He made it clear he would not remain uncommitted for long. Kentucky was immediately viewed as the top contender because of family connections to the Wildcats. Kendall's brother is on the Kentucky roster.
Soon after competing at the Rivals Quarterback Challenge Presented by Under Armour in Atlanta, Kendall to trips to Oklahoma and to Auburn. He enjoyed both visits but Oklahoma led from the time he left Norman.
"All three of the schools I was looking at had great offenses and they were the offenses I was looking for," he said. "They had good quarterback situations and great coaching staffs. They're all going to win anywhere they are. Kentucky's program is going up just like Auburn's. Auburn was in the National championship a few years ago. They were all good programs but Oklahoma felt like home."
As a junior, Kendall complete almost 60-percent of his passes while amassing 4,461 yards and scoring 49 touchdowns.
