OT Sands claims two scholies

Offensive tackle Tyler Sands out of Boyertown, Pa. didn't have offers just a few weeks ago. A lot has changed for the 6-foot-5, 290-pounder as two colleges from the ACC and Big 12 have decided to offer the stud lineman prospect.
"Recently I was offered a scholarship by Duke and then yesterday I found out Nebraska has offered too," he said. "I was really excited about the Duke offer. I wasn't expecting it and it was my first.

"Then finding out Nebraska offered, that was really exciting. They are a big school and one of my top colleges. I grew up watching them, but I'm not going to make a decision anytime soon. I want to visit schools to see what happens."
What does Sands like about the Cornhusker program?
"They are a great football team and there's a lot of history there," he said. "I know they have great facilities and it's just an awesome school academic wise and athletically. I called their tight end coach and I'm hoping to take a trip down sometime soon."
While the visit to Lincoln isn't set in stone, Sands does have two other trips scheduled to Boston College this weekend and Duke on April 21st.
Meanwhile, plenty of other colleges are looking at the Pennsylvania lineman.
"Other schools that are after me are Virginia, Boston College, Penn State and Vanderbilt," he said. "Mostly, I'm looking for a good football program with history and someplace that fits me."
This spring Sands plans to participate in the Nike Combine in New Jersey along with the Elite College Combine.
Sands earned honorable mention AAAA all-state, honorable mention all-league and all-area as a junior.
