OT Patrick Williams gives a commitment to red-hot Texas A&M

Texas A&M's recruiting momentum in the Greater Houston area has continued.

The latest domino to fall in the Aggies' 2022 recruiting haul is three-star Dickinson (Texas) offensive tackle Patrick Williams, who pledged to Texas A&M over Texas, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Auburn and Baylor, among others.

Williams, who converted from the defensive line to offensive tackle as a sophomore in 2019, is the nation's No. 44-ranked offensive tackle and a top-40 prospect in the Lone Star State.

Williams joins fellow Houston area standout Malick Sylla as the first two members of Texas A&M's 2022 recruiting class. Sylla broke the seal on the haul with his commitment on Sunday night.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"I believe now was the right time because you never want to wait to make a decision you might lose."

"The coaching staff became like a good family to me and it felt like home when I was there."

"It feels special (to commit right now) because not many people can be a part of the movement. So, it's a big role to fulfill and my future ahead of me is important. Now, I believe I can get to the promised land."

RIVALS REACTION

Williams began his prep career on the defensive line at Dickinson High, but made the transition to offensive tackle as a sophomore only to earn All-District 24-6A honors in his first year learning the position. This past year, Williams against earned All-District honors as he continued to develop and refine his technique, and there is no doubt that his game was taken to new heights.

A natural athlete, Williams quickly took to offensive line and leaned on his physicality and raw brute power early on. He also has a basketball background to lean on and his athleticism and quick feet and ability to move out in space and across the formation are key benchmarks of his game.

Williams is a driver and became a finisher as a junior this past fall. He is constantly looking to knockdown his primary block and try and advance to the next level. He became adept in that regard over the past year.

Williams took a major step forward in pass protection. He's keen at anticipating pass-rush moves and plays with a strong base and low center of gravity. His power is noticeable even as he's protecting his quarterback. Williams is a bully on the edge of Dickinson's offensive line.
