OT Friend commits

Warrenton (Va.) Fauquier offensive tackle Kevin Friend has come to a decision. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder made his choice following an official visit this past weekend.
"I actually just committed to Connecticut this morning," he said. "I literally just got back from the visit.

"The coaches there were awesome and the atmosphere on campus is great. Academically they are the best school in New England and I can definitely get a good education there. They just built a 50 million dollar football facility. It's unbelievable, everything I wanted."
What sold Friend on the visit to Connecticut?
"What sold me was the coaches," he stated. "I just clicked with them, especially Coach Foley. We got along really well. I liked them all."
Friend told Coach Edsall this morning of his choice.
"He was happy, I was happy to finally be done and know where I'm going."
As for playing time, that is still undetermined.
"They told me the best five will play," he said. "I'm definitely going to redshirt my freshman year."
Friend helped Fauquier to a 7-3 season as a senior.
"I would say it was the best season I played," he said. "The coaches trusted me more in making blocks for our running backs and more running plays went to my side. I felt like I blocked better and moved better. I was faster and stronger too.
"I think my ability to move is my best asset right now."
Friend is also a wrestler who is ranked second in the state as a heavyweight.
