OSU commit to take trip

Fast rising defensive end prospect Justin Edison (6-4, 220, 4.8) from Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei has to be considered a soft commit to Oregon State. He will take one official visit to Cal this coming weekend and could even take another visit the following weekend to another Pac 10 school.
Edison's four-star teammate and UCLA commit, Akeem Ayers (6-2, 214, 4.65) will also be taking a visit.

Edison may also take a visit to UCLA the following week on January 19th.
There is a reason that Edison is becoming such a hot commodity on the Pac 10 recruiting front. Edison has much upside as any defensive end in the state of California.
As a senior, Edison racked up 83 tackles, 26 quarterback hurries, 14 sacks, four pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.
Maybe more important was the fact that Edison was a steadying influence during the middle of the season when Verbum Dei became injury riddled.
Edison was one of the main reasons that Verbum Dei rebounded and ended up taking their division Southern Section CIF title.
Edison's position coach Owen Brown was filled with praise for his defensive end.
"Justin is pure intensity and plays all out to the whistle," Brown said. "He practices hard and is very coachable.
"Justin would have to be coachable for him to get so good, so fast. He didn't really start playing until the middle of last season. He was a basketball player before that.
"Justin is still committed to Oregon State, but he hasn't really compared any other colleges to Oregon State," Brown said. "When Cal and UCLA came into the picture it gave him something to think about."
It is going to be a bit of a roller coaster ride for Oregon State, Cal and UCLA fans over the next few weeks.
