Beaverton (Calif.) Southridge wide out Mitch Mathews picked up his first scholarship offer just a week ago from UNLV. The talented receiver has now added offer No. 2.
Mathews, 6-5, 185 pounds is a talented pass catcher who had a strong showing at the NIKE Camp in Oregon. As a junior, Mathews caught 42 balls for 543 yards and six touchdowns to earn all-league honors and he's definitely among the top pass catchers in the NW this year.
"My latest offer is from BYU," Mathews said. "I went to their Junior Day Friday and it was great. There were a lot of prospects there and we did a lot of drills and one on ones.
"I had a chance to meet with the entire coaching staff and got an offer from them. I'm very excited as BYU is one of my top schools and my older brother Marcus is there so that's an added bonus.
"Ever since we were young we've always wanted to play together in college. We are best friends and it would be a great thing to be able to play with him again.
"I'm going to Boise State and Idaho this week for camps and then will be at UCLA on Sunday. So it's going to be a busy week but things are going good so far for me."
