Even with that busy schedule, Scarlett still finds time to hit the weight room. His current bench is 300, and he has recorded a 33-inch vertical.
Scarlett was selected first-team all-league, both sides of the ball as a tight end and linebacker. On the offensive side of the ball, Scarlett had 17 receptions for 343 yard and seven touchdowns. He racked up 59 tackles, six sacks and one interception as linebacker. He is being recruited as both a tight end and defensive end.
On the recruiting trail, Scarlett has nine official offers and two pending offers. His official offers are from Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, Washington, BYU, Nebraska and Notre Dame. He has two pending offers from Boise State and Oklahoma.
What is Scarlett looking for in a college?
"First off is going to be the school that is my best fit," Scarlett said. "I'll go on my visits and see what college fits me. Where I think I can spend four years and maybe the years after that.
"I think the college experience one where I want to enjoy myself and there is a football aspect as well there too of course," Scarlett said. "Academics is very important as I am a big academics person and my family is big on academics so I will look at that too. Academics will be a major factor.
"I'm not too sure when I will make up my mind," Scarlett said. "I don't expect to wait until signing day to make my decision. From what I hear there is a lot of stress and a lot of phone calls and stuff.
"Coaches and people that have gone through it told me that it gets crazy over the last couple of weeks."
Being from the same city as UCLA bound five-star defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa who recently went the process of a very intense recruiting battle, has Scarlett asked Odighizuwa for advice?
"I've talked to him (Odighizuwa) a couple of times," Scarlett said. "I haven't talked to him about recruiting yet, but I hope to get a hold of him some time and get some advice from him."
The scouting report on Scarlett is he's an outstanding all around athlete who moves very well for a guy his size. He has surprising speed and quickness. He may play some free safety as a senior in some packages. He has outstanding first step off the defensive line, which makes him touch block from the edge.
