Oregon State lands talented QB

Oregon State was the benefactor behind BYU’s wealth at the quarterback position. The Beavers were able to secure the verbal committal of and will receive the signature of signal caller Danny Southwick (6-4, 215, 4.7).
Southwick signed with BYU out of high school and like many LDS athletes went on a mission before entering school. Once he finished his missionary obligation he discovered that BYU had a quantity of talented quarterbacks on the roster and he decided to look elsewhere.

Southwick decided on Oregon State because the Beaver offensive attack is similar to the one he ran in high school.
Southwick was a record breaking quarterback when played at Provo (Utah) Timpview in 1999. He threw for 2,970 yards, 27 touchdowns and ten interceptions.
Southwick has excellent bloodlines. His uncle is BYU quarterback Brett Engemann who has said he will relinquish his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
This a good pick up for the Beavers. They get a true frosh with maturity and a lot of talent.
Good get for Dennis Erickson and the Oregon State Beavers.
