Oregon looks good for Cali DB

One player who has been flying somewhat under the radar despite having a huge senior season is Compton (Calif.) Dominguez' Marvin Johnson. Johnson is one of seven finalist for state player of the year honors and said one school is looking very good for him right now.
Johnson, 5-10, 190 pounds played quarterback and safety this past season and is playing free safety for the CA squad at this years CaliFlorida Bowl. Just how good was Johnson this year while leading the Dons to the Div III championship?

As a quarterback, Johnson rushed for 1,077 yards and 18 touchdowns and threw for 1,250 yards and 19 more scores (with just two interceptions). He was among the team leaders on defense as well in tackles and interceptions. In fact, he picked off more passes on defense (five) than he threw on offense.
On the recruiting front, Johnson took a visit to Mississippi State in November and has a trip to Oregon set up for (Jan. 13).
"I really like Oregon a lot," Johnson said. "If I had to decide now, it would be Oregon but I want take that visit first. Oregon is just a really cool school and I like everything about them. I like their style of play, I like the location, the uniforms, the coaches and I heard it's a cool college town there too."
Look for Johnson to make his college choice shortly after returning from his visit to Eugene if not sooner.
