Oregon Lands SoCal Defensive Back

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) defensive back Patrick Chung had a January visit set with Oregon and was thinking about committing to the Ducks at that time. Well, Chung decided he didn't even need to visit Eugene and announced for Oregon yesterday.
"I really like the Pac 10 and I like Oregon a lot as well," Chung said. "I've always wanted to play in the Pac 10 and Oregon has a great winning tradition. I'm still going to take my visit out there on (Jan. 9) but I'm a Duck and I think it's a great fit for me."

Chung, 5-11, 175 pounds was recruited to play corner for the Ducks and is an intriguing prospect because of his age. The athlete is just 16 and won't turn 17 until August so he's actually younger than some juniors. He's a player w e feel will continue to mature physically and he has some very nice upside to him.
"Wyoming and Colorado State were my other offers and both have been great with me," Chung said. "I just liked what Oregon had to offer a little more. I'll likely red-shirt and that's fine with me. We've also talked about me grey-shirting depending on my grades. I scored a 900 on the SAT but I need to get my GPA up a little more. I'm doing well now though and I'm confident I'll be able to qualify. If not, then that grey-shirt is an option but I don't think I'll need it."
