Oregon interests 2014 standout

Sulaiman Hameed was one of the top 2014 prospects at the Oakland NIKE Camp and the Alameda, Calif., prospect earned the attention of some major college programs this summer as well.
Hameed, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect, camped at Oregon, USC, Cal and Stanford and he said the Ducks especially stood out.

No offers have come in yet for the rising junior but Hameed said he's definitely going to stay in contact with Oregon and any other school that shows him interest.
"Oregon was really interested," Hameed said. "They got all my information and they said they'd try to come out to a game this season. I actually got the most love from them and Cal was showing a lot of love as well."
The trip to Eugene, Ore., was definitely different for a city kid and Hameed said it was something unexpectedly nice. The Ducks made a big impression on the Alameda standout who hopes to keep hearing from the coaching staff.
"It was cool," Hameed said.
"You always see Oregon on TV and I actually got a chance to experience the environment and it was actually cool to be away from the city at times. It was really relaxing to me and I thought that was cool."
Hameed worked at cornerback and on offense this summer so he said colleges are recruiting him more as an athlete than for one position.
His junior campaign gets underway on Aug. 31 and Hameed said he cannot wait not only to get more recruiting exposure but to be a bigger leader this season.
"This summer I worked on corner a little bit," Hameed said. "A lot of schools like me at corner but some others like me on the offensive side so most schools are recruiting me as an athlete.
"I'm really excited. My team has been practicing hard all summer and we're really dedicated and we're ready to go. I'm ready to go and ball out this season."
