Oregon gets two major visitors

The top prospect in the state of Kentucky and one of the top wide receivers in the entire Southeast will be on a country-wide tour this weekend. Lexington (Ky.) Henry Clay four-star wide receiver Aaron Boyd has had a visit to Arkansas scheduled for this weekend for almost a month. The talented wideout is already fresh off the heels of official visits to Texas A&M and Missouri on consecutive weekends but now his schedule just got a little busier.

Boyd had been interested in the Oregon football program from afar but hadn't had much communication with the staff. However, when he sent off his senior film to the Pacific Northwest in late December, it didn't take long for that communication to pick up. Now Boyd has managed to squeeze in an official visit to see the Ducks.

"Coach Pflugrad came by my house yesterday and we scheduled it," Boyd said. "I was actually thinking about Oregon a long time ago. I didn't know he was actually coming to my house until my coach told me yesterday. I had talked to him on the phone before but that was the first time I had met him. He's a real good guy. He answers all the questions. He's on top of everything."

The visit to Oregon won't come at the expense of his Arkansas trip but it will fill up his calendar for the next few days. Boyd has plans of heading out to Oregon on Monday immediately following his trip to Fayetteville.

"I may not be getting a lot of sleep," he said. "I've been flying for three weeks straight. I'm just excited to see new things. It's fun when you get there but when you think about it like it's more traveling, it's taking a toll on me. Hopefully in the end it'll be worth it."

Since Coach Bellotti will be out of town the first weekend in February, the Oregon staff wanted to make sure that Boyd got in for an early-week visit in order to meet the head man. There is at least one other prospect that coach Bellotti will be hoping to meet along with Boyd.

"They said Terrelle Pryor will be coming on the visit too so I'm looking forward to that," he said. "I've never met him before."

With the late surge by Oregon, how serious are the Ducks as contenders for Boyd's services?

"I've always been interested in Oregon and always wanted to see if they were interested in me. They're probably a top three pick for me."

While Boyd is still open in his recruitment and won't announce until signing day, the top four that have emerged to date are Oregon, Kentucky, Missouri and Auburn.
